Before Stanley could register the insanity of the situation, that these guys were picking a fight with him because he was dating a white girl. Never mind that he was in a majority-Coloured and Muslim area, before Stanley could say another word, he felt a sharp pain on his forehead.

One of the guys had thrown a brick at his head. The impact disoriented him immediately and he felt his balance waiver. Instantly another of the guys grabbed Stanley’s wrist on the hand holding the knife. They guy applied pressure to the right place, forcing Stanley to roar out in pain while dropping the weapon. Then he felt the blows rain down on his body, fists and boots pummeling him relentlessly. All the while the guys were hurling racist insults at him. While he protected his body as best he could, and in the daze of confusion, he could make out the sound of police sirens approaching. As another fist connected with the back of his head, he thought to himself, “wow, the cops got here fast.”

And that’s when his feral side kicked in.

Stanley ignored the blows, he ignored the pain and reared himself up as large as possible. The guys took a half step back, clearly surprised by Stanley’s sudden strength. In that split second, Stanley kicked one of the guys so hard in the testicles that the guy passed out on the spot! In one fluid motion, Stanley transferred his weight on to the foot used for the kick and with the momentum of the spin, hit the next guy with his balled-up fist so hard that two teeth went flying from his mouth while his jaw fractured on impact.

The remaining two guys, looked at their friends laying limp on the floor and began to question their own resolve.

Stanley was in full rage mode now and screamed at the top of his voice daring the remaining two guys to come at him.

“Everyone on the floor now!” The voices of the two policemen brought an instant dissipation to the fight. The sight of their drawn service weapons, made both Stanley and his attackers drop down to the ground.

Just before he put his face onto the floor, Stanley noticed the arrival outside the shop of a media vehicle. Again, he thought, “How strange that the press is here so fast as well.”

The wind was howling at near gale force velocity today and the skies above the Flat Lands were clear blue. The ferocity of the wind meant Johan could not enjoy his morning coffee on the balcony. His wife, Lola, figured as much and set up his coffee and rusks on the desk in his study.

She knew he preferred his study when it was windy outside and she also knew that he only smoked his cigars in his study or outside of the house. Lola, now in her late forties, was still a very handsome woman. Even, after bearing Johan three beautiful daughters, her body was probably the best he’d ever seen it.

Becoming a mom had given her that sexy thickness that had become all the rage when the modelling world finally started to embrace real women’s bodies. Her breasts were full and firm and complimented her wide hips perfectly. She had long well-shaped legs, but her most exciting feature was, easily, her smile and laugh.

She loved to laugh and smiled frequently. Johan credited her for his ability to relax and have fun. She was also very direct, and was one of the few people who would call him an idiot to his face, and prove it to boot.

But, when she smiled at you, it was as if the world stood still and you were the only person in the universe she was looking at. She had a wide, generous mouth, with full lips. Her face had high cheek bones below hazel-coloured eyes that radiated a soft honey coloured light in the right sunshine. All of this beauty was framed by a full head of luxurious thick hair which she cursed every time she had to wash and straighten it. The curly hair and her deep caramel brown skin were courtesy of her Khoi/San heritage which practically all Coloured people had in their DNA.

The rest of her was thanks to several probable Malay and European influences. She was by all stretches of the imagination, an exotic beauty.
